| The "Rat Pack" were more from my parents generation than mine. I did enjoy Frank Sinatra's movie performances in "From Here to Eternity" and "Von Ryan's Express". Dean Martin also played a pretty good cowboy in several westerns as well. Of the singers on this page, I enjoyed Johnny Mathis' songs the most, particularly "Chances Are" and "Misty" although Liza Minnelli can really belt out "Cabaret". I remember Judy Garland from a few old movies with Mickey Rooney and, of course, the "Wizard of Oz". She and daugther Liza are certainly living proof that music talent is genetic and not a sporadic quirk of nature. (L. to R. Liza Minnelli, Judy Garland, Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr., Shirley MacLaine, Dean Martin, and Johnny Mathis.) | |||||||||||||||||||
