Devil's Lake is surrounded by Lincoln City, Oregon. (Map). The lake drains via the D River ("The world's shortest river!"), about 200 yards to the Pacific Ocean.
Surrounding attractions include Devil's Lake State Recreation Area, a park and campground on the west shore; East Devil's Lake Day Use, and the D River State Recreation Site, across US 101 on the south bank of the D River.
Devil's Lake has long suffered water-quality issues, largely due to old septic systems still in use in nearby neighborhoods. Periodic algae blooms or adverse test results trigger public warnings to avoid contact with lake water.
