Manhattan Beach State Recreation Site

Manhattan Beach State Recreation Site is a day use park and beach access  25  near milepost 48 on US 101, just north of Rockaway Beach, Oregon.  (Map.)  It offers paved parking with a couple dozen spaces, picnic tables, rest rooms, and a short path to the beach shaded by shore pines.

Sandy beach stretches to the north and south.  To the north is the mouth of Nehalem Bay, and a long view of Neahkahnie Mountain.  To the south the beach runs along Manhattan Beach, Rockaway Beach, and Twin Rocks toward Barview and the mouth of Tillamook Bay.  Creeks cross the beach, so distance hikers will have to ford them or dodge them.
