Simpson's Reef is a series of sea stacks off the northern shore of Cape Arago on the southern Oregon coast. It is home to seals, sea lions, and myriad sea birds. The Simpson's Reef viewpoint offers views of this wonderland, from the side of OR 540 atop the rugged cliffs of Cape Arago State Park.
On a clear day, you can see and hear the seals and sea lions, and the wheeling and shrieking bird life. The landscape and seascape are rugged, the waves ceaselessly pounding rock and earth. Consider the lives of the wild creatures who live here.
The Simpson's Reef viewpoint is well worth seeing, even if you're bound for the rest of Cape Arago State Park. If you have good camera gear, you should bring it.
