Fractal Audio Systems
High-end digital guitar amp and effects modeling processors.  A third-party "expert" on YouTube says the rule of thumb is Axe-FX III MKII is 100% DSP, FM9 is ~50% DSP, and FM3 is ~25% DSP.
Fractal gear retains its value too well for out-of-production models to be sensible purchases, given the technological advantages of the current models.
Axe-FX III
Fractal Audio Systems Axe-FX III (2018; replaced).  Rack-mounted flagship, claimed to be the world's most powerful digital modeler of guitar amps and effects.
Axe-FX III MK II
Fractal Audio Systems Axe-FX III MK II (2020; $2300 new).  Updated rack-mounted flagship, claimed to be the world's most powerful digital modeler of guitar amps and effects.  DSP power is boosted in MKII version.  A third-party "expert" on YouTube says the rule of thumb is Axe-FX III MKII is 100% DSP, FM9 is ~50% DSP, and FM3 is ~25% DSP.
Widely viewed as the state of the art in digitally modeled guitar amps and effects.
FM3
Fractal Audio Systems FM3 (2019; $1100 new).  Axe-FX family digital modeling shrunk to a three-stomp floor unit, with ~25% of the DSP power of the Axe-FX III MK II.  FM3 lacks the Auto Input Impedance feature of the more expensive modelers.
The form factor, simplicity, and price are attractive!  But the reason to go with Fractal is the DSP power and the quality models it enables.  The FM3 is said to have a quarter the DSP power of the Axe-FX III MK2.
FM9
Fractal Audio Systems FM9 (2021; $1700? new).  Axe-FX family digital modeling in a nine-stomp floor unit, with ~50% of the DSP power of the Axe-FX III MK II.  The waiting list to buy one got so long they removed it from their order page.
Twice the power of an FM3, but less money than an Axe-FX III - a popular combination.  The backorder list is months to years.
Hudson Electronics, UK
Hudson Electronics, UK: Michael Hudson (Hull, UK).
Broadcast
Hudson Broadcast.  Preamp/overdrive inspired by vintage mixer console channel strips.
Broadcast Dual
Hudson Broadcast - dual foot switch.  Preamp/overdrive inspired by vintage mixer console channel strips.  The same circuit, with a foot-switch to choose between the lower gain mode and the higher gain mode.
Broadcast BC-24V-USA
Hudson Broadcast BC-24V-USA.  Transformer-coupled Class A germanium preamplifier.  "The BC-24V-USA runs internally at 24 volts from a standard 9V supply.  The increased voltage gives extra headroom and a tighter low end, which is fantastic if you are looking for a little less saturation and grit, but without losing that unique sound of the Broadcast."
Broadcast-AP
Hudson Broadcast-AP.
I've been very excited to collaborate with Ariel Posen to produce the Broadcast-AP.  It's an evolution of the Broadcast, designed to integrate with Ariel's unique sound.

At the heart of the Broadcast-AP -- as the name may suggest -- is the same circuitry as the Broadcast.  A class-A discrete transformer-coupled circuit, designed to saturate in a unique way reminiscent of certain recording and broadcast consoles.

We took the lower-gain side of the standard Broadcast as a starting point.  Together, Ariel and I exchanged the germanium transistor for a silicon and used an OEP transformer.  The OEP transformer saturates and distorts less below 100Hz compared to the Triad transformer used in the standard Broadcast.  These two changes together give the Broadcast-AP a darker, smoother, more powerful tone compared to the standard version.  Greater weight in the lows, whilst retaining the open highs and upper-mids, giving the Broadcast a "3D" effect.

The control layout features both LEVEL and GAIN TRIM potentiometers and a switchable high-pass / low-cut filter -- 100Hz @ 6dB/oct.  The GAIN TRIM control has 12dB more gain than the low-gain side of the standard Broadcast, allowing the Broadcast-AP to cover ground from clean boost through to medium gain overdrive tones.  In addition, the gain of the pedal can be increased via an internal trimmer and -- when pushed to the max -- the sound becomes overloaded, broken and fuzzy.  The high-pass / low-cut filter can help keep the low end together, especially when driving amps at higher gain and volume levels.
  • Pair of selected silicon transistors
  • OEP transformer selected to give less THD on low frequencies
  • BI Technologies potentiometers
  • Lumberg jack sockets (rated for >5000 cycles)
  • Heavy duty Alpha foot switches (rated for >30,000 cycles)
  • Individually hand-built on to a high-quality PCB, assembled, hand-wired, tested and packaged all by Michael Hudson
  • LEVEL - controls the overall volume of the pedal.
  • GAIN TRIM - controls the gain level of the Broadcast-AP.
  • LOW CUT (switch) - Activates a low-cut filter which reduces the gain of the low frequencies.  Position 1 (switch-down) the low-cut filter is out of the circuit, position 2 (switch-up) the low-cut filter is engaged.
  • Internal trimmers - The Broadcast-AP features three internal trimmers - one to increase the overall gain of the pedal and two to fine tune each of the positions of the LOW CUT switch.
  • DC socket - The Broadcast-AP requires a DC power supply unit (PSU) and can run at voltages between 9VDC abnd 24VDC; running the Broadcast-AP at voltages higher than 9VDC gives it more headroom, output level and clarity.  This is great for use with higher output instruments (bass guitar, synth, studio line level equipment) or when using the Broadcast-AP as a clean pre-amp boost.  Please ensure your PSU can supply between 9VDC and 24VDC, a minimum current of 20ma and has a 2.1mm negative centre barrel plug.  Any other type may damage your pedal.  If you plan on sharing the same PSU with other pedals, we recommend using a PSU with isolated outputs.
Current draw: 20mA
Broadcast-AP blue
Hudson Broadcast-AP / Blue Limited Run (limited edition available from Anderton's).
This limited edition version of Ariel's signature Broadcast-AP features a stunning blue livery with a gorgeous dark read marbled nameplate.

Johnson
Johnson Amps.  Johnson made early digital modeling amps and a desktop processor in competition with Line 6 c.1990s-2000s.  Johnson was absorbed by Harman International, which merged it into DigiTech, another Harman property.
J-Station
Johnson J-Station (????; $??? new).  Desktop digital amp-and-cabinet modeler.
I played one of these once, ling ago, and found it to sound much more realistic than the Line 6 products against which it competed in that era.  That was long ago.  It would be interesting to hear a J-Station again in 2022.
Joyo
Joyo makes affordable guitar gear, often imitations of industry classics, in China.
California Sound
Joyo California Sound (????; $45? new).  Medium analog stompbox "Fender-sound" amp modeler.  Might be an imitation of the Tech 21 Character Series Blonde.
I heard an encouraging clip recorded by Johnny.
Kingsley
Kingsley: Simon Jarrett (Maple Ridge, BC, Canada), amps since 2000 and pedals since 2008.  Pedals, like amps, featuring tubes at full operating voltage, hand-wired on tag boards and tag strips, with chassis-mounted jacks.
Jester
Kingsley Jester (2008+), a few versions.  The lead channel of a tube amp, with an independent boost, all powered by two full-voltage 12AX7 tubes.
I played a v1 Kingsley Jester, the older version with the tubes sticking up vertically underneath a shroud.  It's probably the most natural and amp-like sounding "dirt pedal" I've ever played.
Jouster
Kingsley Jouster, a few versions.  Two tube-powered overdrive circuits, stacked, all powered by two full-voltage 12AX7 tubes.
Juggler, v2
Kingsley Juggler, v2.  Basically, a Maiden v2 clean channel with a Page DS overdrive channel, for the most comprehensive and full-featured Dumble-in-a-preamp-pedal that Kingsley makes.  Built using full-voltage 12AX7 tubes.
I need to check this out.
Maiden D, v1
Kingsley Maiden D, v1.  Said to resemble the clean preamp channel of the Dumble ODS amp, and some of Kingsley's models as well.  Built using full-voltage 12AX7 tube.  Controls: ?.
I need to check this out.
Page, v1
Kingsley Page, v1.  Natural-sounding boost-to-low-gain overdrive circuit, powered by one full-voltage 12AX7 tube.  Controls: Gain, Volume, Tone; 3-way Mode toggle (mid-boost, bright-boost, and fat-boost modes).
This is an awesome pedal, a super organic boost and low gain overdrive.  It even makes a solid-state amp sound good.
With the Page v2, Simon went on a crusade against excessive bass.  I am so happy to have an early-serial v1 Page, because I freaking LOVE the "fat boost" setting 3 on the v1's Mode switch.  I find it to be perfectly voiced for making an average-voiced mid-sized amp sound more like my pushed '68 Bassman stack.  I'm in Voodoo Chile heaven when I kick that on.
Page, v2
Kingsley Page, v2.  Natural-sounding boost-to-low-gain overdrive circuit, powered by one full-voltage 12AX7 tube.  Controls: Gain, Volume, Tone; and now two 2-way toggle switches.
"The Page has been updated.  The Page V2 features a new low-cut switch with two positions.  This allows the low end to be reduced, which can be useful when pushing an amplifier or another pedal into overdrive, as it helps the tone stay tight and defined.  It can also be useful with bass heavy guitars, or for players who use the neck pickup a lot.  Alternatively, with the switch set to the right, the low end will be the same as on the original Page.
In addition, the Mode switch now features two positions instead of three.  Postions 1 and 2 are the same as on the V1 Page.  However, Position 3 (bass boost) has been eliminated on the new V2, as this amount of bass was generally excessive for a boost/low gain OD pedal."
Simon went on a crusade against excessive bass!  I am so happy to have an early-serial v1 Page, because I freaking LOVE the "fat boost" setting 3 on the v1's Mode switch.  I find it to be perfectly voiced.  I'm in Voodoo Chile heaven when I kick that on.
Squire BF
Kingsley Squire BF.  Said to resemble the clean preamp channel of a black-panel Fender amp.  Built using one full-voltage 12AX7 tube.  Controls: Volume, Bass, Treble.
I need to check this out.
Laney
Laney makes old-school tube amps in the UK.
Lionheart IRT
Laney Lionheart IRT (????; $??? new).  Sort of an overdrive pedal with a tube, with preamp-level output, and even I think a USB audio interface.
Not what I'm looking for, because it offers little or no EQ adjustability and little or no clean sound.
Line 6
Line 6 (Bay Area, California?).  Popular maker of digital amp and effects modeling processors.  I've tried a few of their older modelers, usually bought cheap after they slid off the technology curve.  I've found them fun to play at times, but never convincing or "good tone."
Helix
Line 6 Helix.  The current flagship of the Line 6 lineup, a large 10-stomp (?) floor unit.  Lots of guitars and amps modeled within.
HX Stomp
Line 6 HX Stomp ($650).  Line 6 Helix tones, reimplemented to run on a cheaper 3-stomp (?) floor unit.
Fractal fans acknowledge it's a nice-looking physical unit at half the price of an FM3, but it sounds like a Line 6.
HX Stomp XL
Line 6 HX Stomp XL ($750 new).  Line 6 Helix Stomp, in a larger floor unit with 8 foot-switches.
POD Go
Line 6 POD Go ($450 new).  Line 6 POD Go: next-gen POD with 8 foot-switches, expression pedal.

Iridium
Strymon Iridium (2019?; $400 new).  Medium digital amp-and-cabinet simulator.  Three amps (F/M/V) and a dozen or so cabinet IRs which can be swapped out for others.
I played one of these once, half-heartedly, and was underwhelmed.  I've heard decent clips, and would like another experience with an Iridium.

Valeton
Valeton mass-produces low-cost derivative effects in China.
Dapper Amp Mini
Valeton Dapper Amp Mini.  An amp-modeling and effects floor strip.  A flexible and suprisingly good-sounding amp module, an effects module that can be delay, tremolo, OR chorus, a reverb module, a tuner, speaker emulator, and XLR DI output.  It's hard to balance volumes among the amp voicings, but if you don't need to switch amp voicings while playing live, you're okay.
Dapper Indie
Valeton Dapper Indie.  An alt/indie-oriented effects floor strip.  Modules: Rat-derivative, Muff-derivative, tuner, modulation, reverb, and delay.  The "Rat" doesn't do lower gains as well as a real Rat (is this digital?).  The "Muff" doesn't respond as well as most Muffs either, and is a wooly mess.  Yet, this pedal is somehow fun and inspiring to play, despite its limitations.
Vox
Vox: now part of the Korg multinational?
Tonelab

Mako [ACS1]
Walrus Audio Mako Series [ACS1] (2021; $400 new).  Amp & cab simulator: three amps (F/M/V), six cab IRs in two banks, stereo ins & outs (just you, or you and a friend simultaneously?).  You can run one amp & cab on the left and a different rig on the right, simultaneously.  There is a boost foot-switch; MIDI in and through.  Demos show low gain tones focused on the clean sounds the amps make.  The overdriven tones might be more organic and convincing for not being over the top fantasy tones like other modelers do.  I've never been other than disappointed by digital amp emulations, but this one has piqued my interest.
In early testing, my [ACS1] is the least fake-sounding digital amp modeler I've played.  The Fullerton model is my new after-hours headphone amp.

Sadly, the London model sounds boxier and smaller than a real JTM45, as if the Bass knob were all the way off and the cab a 1x10.  Perhaps Walrus wanted to tighten it up for a better defined overdriven sound when cranked?  I haven't yet cranked it for the AC/DC test.

The Dartford model also sounds smaller and honkier than a real AC30.  A Vox is a chimy mids and treble machine, for sure, but they also have a broad-shouldered impact that here is reduced to more of a 1x10 or 1x8 combo vibe.  Remember, Brian May uses a treble booster to make his AC30 sound that way.
