Let me say this is the first time I, personally, became aware you apparently are having some difficulty effectively getting our email mechanism to "unsubscribe" you" We have a 34-year reputation for excellence and probity, and frankly I do not want it jeopardized through accidentally arousing ill will. From a business point of view of view, we don't want to waste money to send email to academicians who don't want to receive it. I would be happy to ask our email manager to immediately put a "barrier" on any of your email addresses, so no more email should go to any addresses you provide. I can well grasp your frustration, and I apologize we have caused it. Please help me understand and untangle what is going on. We want to totally and promptly rid you of this undesired email from us. In full compliance with CAN-SPAM rules, every email from us has an "Unsubscribe" button at its bottom, so all one needs to do is click on that and our system will forever bar us from sending you further emails. This mechanism has worked flawlesly scores of times so far, so I am mystified why it did not work in your case. Did you indeed actually click on the "Unsubscribe" button"? Did anything strange happen thereupon? Please be assured we will spare no effort to stop unwanted emails coming to you from us. However, especially as you are a scientist, you understand we must first uncover what is actually happening, and why. Then we can remedy the situation. I look forward to any light you can shed on the situation. Meanwhile, I hope this email adequately conveys our regrets, and assures you of our cooperative and friendly stance.
