Written Case Analyses

Each student is required to complete a written analysis of any one (1) of the seven cases assigned for class discussion. All students are required to complete a written analysis for the Alan Hirschfield at Columbia Pictures case.

Your written case analyses should be submitted in the form of an executive memo addressed to the class instructor (i.e., it should be in the same format as this is written). The memo should be no longer than two typed pages, single-spaced (12 pt., 1" margins). The only exception is the Hirschfield case, which may be three single-spaced pages. The page guidelines are for maximum length and some cases can be effectively analyzed in less space.

In your written analysis of each case, you are free to discuss any issues you feel are relevant to understanding the case. However, your analysis should be responsive to the discussion questions for each case (found on this web site or attached to the course outline handed out in class).

Case Discussion Questions

Your written case analysis is due on the day the case is scheduled to be discussed in class and late cases will not be accepted. Written case analyses will be evaluated using the following criteria:

If you are at all unclear about this assignment or the criteria on which your case analyses will be evaluated, please seek clarification in advance. If you ever have questions about the grade you received for a case or have difficulty reading my comments, please feel free to come by my office.
