Performance Expectations
I hope that you find this course valuable as you prepare to graduate and begin your career. What you take away from the course, however, depends entirely on what you are willing to invest. In a ten-week term the best we can hope to accomplish is to introduce the skills necessary to become an effective manager and leader. If you truly want to master these skills, you must continually practice them outside the classroom.
I generally have high expectations for student performance, including coming to class on time having read the assignments and prepared to discuss them. Those who come late disrupt the class and those who miss class altogether may fail to fulfill their obligations to their project team and do not contribute to the learning environment in class. I do not give high grades casually nor do I believe in giving low grades to fulfill some artificial standards imposed by a grading curve. Instead, I believe that grades should reflect your accomplishment (as opposed to effort) as accurately as possible.
