Title: Combinatorial models of configuration spaces

Abstract:
Fox and Neuwirth, Salvetti, and others have described useful combinatorial
decompositions of the configuration spaces of Euclidean space. I will
explain how stratified spaces nicely synthesize those decompositions, and
extend them to provide models for configuration spaces of many manifolds.
I will conclude by outlining how these ideas apply to factorization
homology and embedding calculus.
