EPA ‘Surf Your Watershed’ Website Tutorial
1) From within your web browser, browse
to the EPA ‘Surf Your Watershed’ website, or select the link from the Water
Trader for a Day website.
2) Click on the ‘Locate Your Watershed’
Link.
You will now see a page
presenting several ways to browse to a specific USGS/EPA watershed.
3) For this tutorial, we will use the
‘Find Place’ option. In the field
below ‘Find Place,’ type in ‘Deschutes’.
Hit Enter.
NOTE: The Search By Map option works just as
well here!
4) You will now see a page with a list of
watersheds (given by their HUC Number) that match your search for
‘Deschutes.’ If you know the HUC
Number that you are looking for, select it’s link from the list. For this tutorial, select the first
option (HUC 17070301). This is the
HUC for the Deschutes River near Bend, OR.
5) You are now on the page for the
specific watershed you have searched for.
Browse the contents of this page.
You can select any of the various links to obtain more information about
your watershed. You can visit
upstream or downstream watersheds by selecting “Other watersheds upstream” or
“Other watersheds downstream.”
