Project Tips
§
Take your time! Look through all of the map data as
well as the additional web resources carefully before proceeding with the
assignment.
§
Each field within the
attribute table for each map layer is there because it has potential value to
you as a ‘water trader for a day.’
Take time to look up descriptions for table fields and their contents in
the map layer information index.
§
Avoid using your browser’s
forwards and back arrows when using the interactive map service. Instead, use the controls available
from within the map service interface.
§
Be sure to refresh the
map after each set of changes you make to the map layer contents or active map
layer.
§
Be creative! Use what’ve you learned combined with
the data available through the interactive mapper, the additional suggested web
resources, and any additional web resources you find to help you arrive at a
sound solution.
§
Keep notes along the
way. You will need to be able to
support your conclusions and a good way to do that is to be able to document
the processes that helped you arrive at them.
§
Draw your own map
sketches. Record areas or features
that you want to focus on based on preliminary analysis. This will help you narrow down choices
made regarding other variables as you come to them.
GOOD LUCK!
