ChemDemos is a great way to get young people fired up about chemistry. The University of Oregon Chemistry Department created the ChemDemos outreach program in order to promote the discipline of chemistry, the University of Oregon, and the UO Department of Chemistry by presenting safe, entertaining, and educational chemical demonstration presentations to schools and other appropriate organizations in the Eugene/Springfield area.

A typical demonstration program lasts from 30 minutes to one-hour. The demonstrations are performed by a University of Oregon faculty member with up to three work-study or volunteer assistants. This team typically performs up to twelve demonstrations per program.
