COURSE II--UNIVERSITY OF OREGON TRAVEL AND LODGING INFORMATION
SCHEDULE: The course will run 8:30-5:30 on Thursday, June 16 and Friday, June 17 and 8:30 to NOON on Saturday, June 18. See the schedule.
LOCATION: The course will meet in Willamette Hall, Room 13 on the University of Oregon campus in Eugene, OR. Willamette Hall is on 13th Avenue between Agate and University Streets. See the campus map.

TRAVEL: Eugene is located about 110 miles south of Portland and about 190 miles north of the California-Oregon border on I-5. From the North, exit at the I-105 exit (#194B) and follow signs to UO. This will put you on Franklin Blvd. eastbound. From the South, take the University of Oregon/Hwy. 99 exit (#192). This will put you on Franklin Blvd. westbound. AIRLINE DISCOUNTS: To find out about special airline and car rental discounts for these courses, click HERE. Eugene Airport is served by United Express, Delta Express (connecting to Delta in Salt Lake City) Horizon Air (connecting with Alaska Airlines and Northwest Airlines) and America West. There is an Omnishuttle (door to door) service that is usually somewhat cheaper than a taxi. They meet all arrivals. You can phone (541) 461-7959 for information. Taxis are also usually available outside the terminal, or they may be phoned. (Airport City Taxi 484-4142, Budget Taxi 683-8294, Emerald City Taxi 686-2010.) Rates quoted over the phone were $13-17 for the15-minute ride from the airport to campus. (There is a FREE shuttle to the Ramada Inn motel, but this motel is 1.25 miles from campus.)
Eugene is also served by Amtrak's Coast Starlight service from Los Angeles and Seattle, and there is additional train service from Portland and Seattle. Greyhound bus service is also available.
LODGING:
DORM: Dorm rooms (June 15-18) may be reserved by phoning 800-280-6218 (or 541-346-3537) and requesting a room for the Physics Chuatauqua Course. The rate for a single room is $35/night. In addition, there will be a $7.50 registration fee.
MOTEL: A block of rooms is being held at the Best Western New Oregon Motel (541-683-3669) until June 1. The New Oregon is about a block from Willamette Hall. Phone to make your own reservation, and say you are coming to the U of O Physics Course, June 15-18. Ask for the State of Oregon rate. The rate should be single, $58.50 plus tax or double (1 or 2 beds) $64.50/ night. If you need help in getting this rate, contact David Sokoloff (see below).

Within 10 minutes drive from the University there are also two Motel 6's, a Hilton, a Red Lion, and many others.
PARKING: If you are not staying in the dorm or in one of the motels adjacent to campus, contact David Sokoloff to get a temporary campus parking permit.
MEALS: There are many restaurants, ranging from University cafeteria to fast food to gourmet within easy walking distance of the location of the course.
