Thermal Energy Transfer
Sometimes something warms you up, sometimes something cools you down.
Thermal energy is being transfered either to your skin or away from it.
There are three main mechanisms.
- Conduction.
- Convection.
- Radiation.
- The body emits or absorbs electromagnetic radiation.
- Your eyes respond to some electromagnetic radiation. Then it is called light .
- Very hot objects emit light that you can see.
- Warm objects emit infrared radiation. You can't see it, but you can feel it.
A question to think about: what are some more examples of each of these?
