4 Oct 18 Library Resources Presentation Library Resources also checkout Rock Resources Your task: Find a classic piece of music and give it a listen in the Douglas listening room and report the name of the song and when it was recorded. Choose one of the two suggestions:
1) Take a current artist or band that does music you like. Determine what influenced the music of that band or artist and locate that influence and listen to a couple of songs. Catalog the songs (name, album and library reference number) you listened to and make a statement whether you can hear the connection to that music.
2) Pick three bands that has been discussed in you History of Rock class and find album(s) of their music and listen to the songs. Catalog the songs (name, album and library reference number) in your report. Give a critique of what you thought of the songs and the artist.Library Resource Result.
3) Submit your own reseacrh proposal. Submit via email to Daniel or Stan by Friday 10/21.
Research Project due. Turn it in at class time.

Grading:

Grading for this course will be based on:

  • Class Participation in class discussions and short written reports are required. We will also have a discussion forum that will include observations, measurements, questions and answers that come up during the seminar sessions. Your participation is required. A physics and history course will alter the way you look at the world. What do you see now that you hadn't before? What news articles relate to what you are studying? How does the music and physics fit together for you now?
  • Mandatory Attendance: All seminars must be attended to receive a passing grade. You cannot participate in a seminar if you are not there. Be sure to contact me as soon as possible if you miss a seminar session.
  • Weekly Journal data will be entered in the journal as daily occurreneces. Place a note in your schedule that reminds you to make some entry each day in your journal. Journals will be handed in on Thursday evenings to Daniel or by sliding them under Daniel's door.
  • Lbrary Project Completion ON TIME is required to pass the course.
