Preparation for Lab:

A pre-lab preparation sheet, included with each lab is due at the start of your lab. This sheet will help you organize your understanding of the goals and procedures for the lab. The prep sheet will not be accepted if you are late to the lab. Failure to turn in the pre-lab preparation sheet results is 1-point deduction from your prep and lab sheet grade.

Work in the Lab:

It is expected that you will complete all lab work during the three-hour laboratory period. Don't plan to leave the lab until you have shown your instructor the completed lab sheets with all questions answered completely. It is to your advantage to complete your lab write-up during or just after your lab section, when what transpired is still fresh in your mind.

Lab Homeworks:

A homework is associated with each lab. DUE DATES FOR THE MATERIALS IS LISTED IN THE LAB SCHEDULE. You will lose 5 points if they are turned a day late, and 3 points for each day late after that. Turn in your completed lab sheets and homework in the box outside room 15 Willamette. Homeworks for a missed lab or without a completed lab sheet are not accepted.

Grading:

Grades will be based on lab sheets, homeworks, and the laboratory final. You must attend and complete all labs. Makeup labs will only be granted on an excused absence which must be related to emergency type situation. The relative weights will be as follows:

Prep sheets: Graded on a 2 or 0 basis. A "2" means you have properly done the prep work.

Lab sheets: Graded on a 1-10 basis. The grade will reflect the effort I percieve to have gone into the lab.

Homeworks (20 points each)

Laboratory Practicum Final 165 points (41%)

Total possible 402 points

The Approximate Grade Distribution will be as follows: above 360 = A, 320 - 360 = B, 280 - 320 = C, 240 - 280 = D, below 240 = F.

Final Exam

The final exam will test your ability to set-up a circuit, use lab equipment to gather and analyze data, and obtain a result. It is an 80 minute lab practicum where you have to work alone.

Lab Makeup Policy:

To receive a passing grade in the course, you must complete all labs. Since this is Summer Session and labs happen at a very fast pace. You are expected to complete your lab work each week during your scheduled lab. It is recommended that you make every effort to attend each lab. Note: The lab will be open until 5:00 so you are welcome to stay and complete the homework assignment if you care to work with your lab partners and get it over with!
