|Tuesday update on email getting returned to sender||25-Jun-2013 @ 13:57|
Email sent to some off-campus email addresses may be returned to the sender. The most common error messages you will see are:
- 554 Your access to this mail system has been rejected due to the sending MTA's poor reputation.
- Delivery has failed to these recipients...
This situation will last until we can get our name cleared from the block lists.
Unfortunately, the are no remedies for this bouncing mail. Several UO email accounts were used to send spam, which resulted in the university's email servers getting blocked.
If you need to contact someone and your messages bounce, call them on the phone or use a personal email address, when possible.
