System change management

The more important or more complicated your system is, the more careful you have to be.

What you should think about in the process of implementing a system change:

• What are you changing?
• Why are you changing it?
• Who or what will be affected by the change?
• How will you communicate the change to the affected people?
• How will you change it?
• How will you verify the change does what you wanted?
• If the change doesn't work, how will you get back to the previous working state?
