Interview Annotation Requirements

Interview annotations should be one to two pages long and must include a complete citation. Note the additional information required:

Warren, Bob. District Aide. Constituent Services and Natural Resources Specialist. Fourth Congressional District, Oregon. Personal Interview. 8 Nov. 1990. (503) 465-6732.

The body of the annotation must include the following:

  • --OVERVIEW OF INTERVIEW SUBJECT AND HIS/HER EXPERTISE.

    Must tell reader why you selected this person for an interview and what expertise he/she brings to your research.

  • --SUMMARY OF MAJOR POINTS IN THE INTERVIEW

    What did you ask the subject? What responses were of the greatest value?

  • ---VALUE OF WORK TO YOUR PROJECT

    What specific contributions does the interview make to your understanding of your research question?

  • ---DISCUSSION OF RELATION OF ANNOTATED WORK TO OTHER ANNOTATED MATERIALS.

    How does the interview compare to other works you are citing? Is the person interviewed providing a different point of view or new information or does this expert confirm other experts?
