Getting Started on the Final Project

• Identify a public policy topic or topics to investigate.
• Draft a working research question.
• Read the Research Strategy Checklist in the UO Library Information Resources packet.
• Begin your preliminary research in JANUS.

  ALL information is not in the computer. Make sure you use other paper-based materials as described in the UO Library Information Resources packet. For example, check selected encyclopedic sources to get background, statistics and list of sources for your topic.

• Fully read several of your cited sources.
• Ask yourself the following questions:
  • Will I be able to find the sources necessary to complete a project this term?
  • Do I want to live with this topic for 10 weeks?
  • How can I improve my initial working research question?
