Final Paper Proposal Due Date: Tuesday, February 28th. Late proposals will be evaluated, but no credit will be awarded. Point Value: 20 points Sample Paper Proposal Format 1. A topic statement in which you clearly state the topic of your paper, identify your research question and present a tentative conclusion. The statement should be no more than a page in length (double-spaced). After you write the first draft of the statement, take a look at it and ask yourself the following question: "How can I narrow the topic and sharpen the focus of my question?" When you can answer the question, write a second draft. 2. A preliminary list of source materials you expect to use in your research. While you are not expected to have completed your research, I expect more than a random and speculative list of source materials. Experience tells us that serious effort in the beginning of the research process will pay dividends several short weeks from today. The assignment should be no longer than two pages long and could be shorter.
