I am so glad to see this resolution. I strongly support it and hope that we can get it through the Oregon legislature as well. This is our version of the Dream Act. With new comprehensive immigration legislation on the horizon for September in Washington D.C., this will help to support that process that President Obama is pushing for.

I have spoken with a number of undocumented students who were unable to come to the U of O or had difficulties once here. This is very important to me and I am so glad to have a chance to vote on this as a U of O senator. It also sends a very positive message to Latino immigrant families in Oregon. Did you know that in ten to eleven years, about 28 - 30 percent of graduating seniors from Oregon public high schools will be Latino--most from immigrant families? if we pass this, then it sends a positive message to those students and their families.

Great work.
