Hi Paul,

I can bring it forward with some coaching, but I should say that I am less interested in collecting data on exam performance than in assessing student/parent reactions to the 2009 Civil War and 2010 Commencement. I agree with the Senate Executive consensus that exam performance would not be nformative. Personally, I don't find such performance entirely relevant either. In my view, students can and should be able to organize their study time around life's happenings in order to maximize their academic performance. I support an opinion survey, though, because by giving priority to athletic schedules we, as a community, are privileging fund raising over the academic experience. If I were "paying good money" to (have my child) go to university, I would feel cheated by a University that prioritized fund raising over academics. But, then again, that could be just me and a survey could assess whether others felt similarly or not.

I would be happy to talk more with you both about this. In particular, if you feel very strongly (Paul) about collecting information on exam performance, I'd like you to convince me of its value before I would bring it forward.
Lisa

Hi Peter,

I don't know if you post the text exactly as it is here. I can edit it if you think that would be more appropriate. Thanks,

Lisa
