Research Interests

Professor Kolpin’s principal research interests lie in the fields of game theory and microeconomic theory, spanning both cooperative and noncooperative contexts. His papers on cooperative theory investigate topics ranging from the stability of cooperative solutions to characterizations of coalitional power in both static and dynamic settings. The results from this body of work have implications for the modeling of economic/political environments, implementation of social choice, and regulation of economic agents. In a series of related papers Professor Kolpin also examines issues of equity in resource allocation and pure exchange. The conclusions that emerge apply in contexts of both centralized and decentralized social choice. His research on noncooperative theory analyzes equilibrium behavior in a diverse set of environments that include psychological games, discriminatory behavior, asymmetric information, infinitely many players, and higher education markets.

Teaching

Professor Kolpin teaches microeconomic theory, game theory, and industrial organization.
