payroll: Important Changes!
First, I write to you to let you know of two changes that have occurred
since Thursday's HRIS Large Group. The University of Oregon will
implement mandatory unpaid leave salary reductions for the October payroll
(Pay date 10/31/09), in accordance with the SEIU Bargaining Agreement.
OUS will have the required standards tables in place in time for payroll
processing this month. Therefore, we will not delay implementation until
November as previously announced.
Second, after taking another look at the process, the salary reductions
will be calculated and processed centrally, rather than placing additional
workload on departments. Payroll coordinators will only have to enter
the leave codes during time entry when furlough days are taken.
The HRIS Large Group Notes and furlough processing instructions are being
revised, and we will announce when the revised versions are available on
the Banner Guide. Human Resources staff have developed a form for
employees to select the "opt-out" choice as opposed to the default option.
For these employees, the salary reductions will occur in the month when
unpaid leave is taken, rather than averaged over the term of the contract.
We will continue to use this listserv for upcoming information concerning
deadlines and other instructions as we prepare for time entry which begins
on Monday, October 19th.
Thank you for your patience as we move forward in this process.
