payroll: Important Changes For Time Entry
With the March time entry, departments will be asked to make a change in
the way they are processing the furlough for hourly employees who have
chosen the opt-out option. Instead of two different ways to process
furlough pay for hourly employees, there will only be one method. We hope
this will simplify the process for you. (It is the same process you are
currently using to process furlough for hourly employees on the default
option.)
What does this mean specifically?
In your calculations for hourly employees (on opt-out and default),
departments will add "actual hours worked" to "furlough hours taken" and
will then enter this number into PHAHOUR.
Example of Process:
160 hours (actual hours worked) + 8 hours (furlough leave taken)
168 hours entered into PHAHOUR by department
Previous Process (for hourly opt-out only)
160 (actual hours worked) + 8 hours (furlough leave taken)
160 hours entered by department
168 hours entered by payroll staff after time entry window closed
(overriding department's data entry)
In recent months, the number of employees choosing the opt-out option by
hourly employees has greatly increased. Your efforts to assist us in this
process are greatly appreciated.
Remember, the Payroll Office is still responsible for entering the salary
reduction code LW7; departments are responsible for entering the LTZ
option when applicable.
