FAA RESTRICTS AIRSPACE AROUND SALT LAKE CITY FOR OLYMPICS OPENING &
CLOSING
CEREMONIES

Citing security concerns, the FAA has issued a special Federal Aviation
Regulation establishing restrictions for aircraft operations Feb. 8 and 24
in the vicinity of the 2002 Winter Olympic Games in Salt Lake City (SLC).
Under the regulation, no arrivals or departures will be allowed at the SLC
Airport between the hours of 6 p.m. MST and 10 p.m. MST on Feb. 8 (Opening
Ceremonies) and Feb. 24 (Closing Ceremonies). Airspace will be closed for
a
45-mile radius around Salt Lake City.

In making plans to comply with the airspace restrictions imposed by the
FAA,
it is expected that airlines serving Salt Lake City will focus on
minimizing
any inconvenience to their customers. Delta and Delta Connection, for
example, have announced that no flights will arrive after 5:30 p.m. MST to
prevent possible diversions due to the 45-mile no-fly zone. Departures
will
resume at 10:00 p.m. and arrivals will resume at 10:30 p.m. During these
hours, Delta will cancel fewer than 10 arrivals and departures. Other
adjustments will be made through the re-timing of arrivals and departures;
by the addition of extra flights as necessary, and by "over-flying" to
other
cities beyond SLC which will position the carrier to resume its normal
schedule more quickly and with less inconvenience to customers. SkyWest is
coordinating its plan with Delta's.

The changes Delta and Delta Connection will make on Feb. 24, the day of
the
Closing Ceremonies, will be determined in the coming days. They will be
very
similar to the February 8 plans. Affected customers may make changes
without
penalty or administrative service charges if they are rebooking their trip
within seven days from the original travel date. Minimum/maximum stay
requirements will be waived. Customers may be rebooked to earlier or later
flights or alternate dates within the 7-day window, whether they are
originating or returning.

Passengers planning to travel in or out of Salt Lake City on the
restricted
days are advised to check with their travel agent and/or
the airlines for details regarding schedule changes as well as individual
policies and procedures.
