travelnews: Travelnews: Clarification of August 23 notice.

There has been a little confusion on the interpretation of a notice that went
out on the Travelnews list August 23. Here is additional information that we
hope will clarify the information provided in the prior notice.

Any travel reimbursement that is processed in the BAO starting September 3, on
the last day of the trip will be reimbursed at the per diem rate for the final
city of destination (in most cases Eugene). For example if we had an employee
attending a conference in Denver and returned to Eugene on September 3 at 3:00
p.m. they are eligible for 50% of the per diem at the Eugene rate of $8.50 for
breakfast and lunch.

There is no exception for the last day of the trip on travel to a conference.
The prior notice was trying to point out that daily per diem is paid at the
rate for the city in which the traveler spends the night, with the exception
of days attending a conference wihich is reimbursed at the high city rate. So
if the traveler is attending a conference and receiving the high city rate for
meals on the day they return to Eugene they are eligible only for the Eugene
rate.
