Therefore, if making rental car arrangements for visitors, guest lecturers, interview candidates or independent contractors, the car needs to be reserved and rented in the visitors name. These vehicle rentals cannot be direct billed to the UO. The UO may reimburse the individual according to the travel policy, including expenses they may incur by purchasing CDW/LDW insurance for the rental vehicle. While we are sensitive to the fact that this may create difficulties for some of our guests, allowing a university vehicle to be driven in contradiction to an OAR may cause the guest to incorrectly believe they are covered by University insurance in the event of an accident.
