The Zariski and Nisnevich descent theorems
Abstract:
This is a short expository note giving detailed proofs of the descent theorems from the title. It took me three weeks to fill in the details of the one-paragraph proof that Morel-Voevodsky give for the Nisnevich case, and I'm embarrassed to admit that I just couldn't understand the Brown-Gersten proof at all. My hope is that the version of the proofs I give here can be read in one or two sittings.
