Assessment of Lighting
System Components
- Assessment
of Effectiveness by Pod
In
all cases, the least effective component to achieve optimal light
levels for reading and writing was deemed to be the occupancy sensors.
In the north and south pods, exterior windows were the most effective
component; in the west, it was the interior clerestory windows.
- Assessment
of Effectiveness by Pod and Window Orientation
Again,
all orientations ranked the occupancy sensor as rather ineffective
in contributing to ideal lighting conditions, and north and south
orientations favored the exterior windows. The south pod with west
window orientation noted operable blinds as effective in achieving
good lighting conditions. The west pod ranked solar tubes and internal
clerestory windows as most effective.
- Assessment
of Effectiveness by Window Orientation
The
northern and southern exterior windows were reported to be the most
effectivein attaining good lighting conditions. Again, occupancy sensors
were considered relatively ineffective across the board.
