1L Fellowship Opportunities

Eligibility - Eligible applicants must be preparing to enter their first year in the J.D. Program at the University of Oregon School of Law. Fellows are selected on the basis of academic merit and demonstrated interest or experience in the area(s) selected.

Award Amount - $5,000.00 ($2,500.00 awarded at the beginning of fall semester and $2,500.00 awarded at the beginning of spring semester.)

Financial Assistance - Each fellowship provides $5,000.00 in tuition reduction. The 1L Fellowship lasts for one academic year Fall 2020--Spring 2021. (A student may only hold one Fellowship.)

How to Apply - We encourage you to identify one (1), or a maximum of two (2), Fellowship(s) that best aligns with your interests and experience. Submit a statement of interest and a resume to the Admissions Office. Your statement of interest should be 250 to 750 words in length and describe your experience and interest in a specific area of the law. For applicants interested in a Fellowship focused on leadership, a statement of interest and resume highlighting your leadership background would be appropriate. You should also describe your current interests and long-term goals and why you believe you would be a good match for the 1L Fellowship Program. You may apply to more than one Fellowship. Your name (as stated on your application for admission) must be included on your statement of interest, and it must be emailed to the Office of Admissions.

Fellowship applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, with a priority application deadline of March 1, 2020. Fellowships remain open until filled. (On a rare occasion, a Fellowship may go unfilled.) Applications for Fellowships may be submitted at the time you submit your application for law school or after you have been admitted to Oregon Law. All candidates will be notified when the process has been completed.
