Fungiphiles Unite!
by Molly Widmer

A new mycological group is forming in the Eugene, Oregon area, and we have set ourselves these projects for this fall:

Taylor Lockwood Fungi slide show:
This is a fantastic photographic show set to music. Taylor Lockwood's shows are renowned for their beauty and creativity, and he has been featured in the New York Times. We are offering a special viewing to local and regional mushroom society members (and family) only, on Friday, October 2nd. The time will very likely be from about 7:00-9:00 pm, but that is yet to be finalized. The show will be held at Agate Hall on the University of Oregon Campus, 1787 Agate Street (where 18th dead-ends into Agate Street). There will be a mushroom identification and mycological discussion preceding the slide show, so bring your interesting specimens. Cost is sliding scale $3.00 to $6.00, and is intended only to cover Taylor's expenses.
There will be a second showing of this wonderful slide show (and there may be some additions from Taylor's travels this summer) which is open to the general public. It will be Wednesday, October 28th, at approximately 7:00 to 9:00 pm. This is also at Agate Hall. Your group is welcome to either or both of these events, but the first date is reserved especially for club members. The second date occurs just after the Mount Pisgah Mushroom Show, during a time when public interest in mushrooms is at a peak here in Eugene.
The start times for the Taylor Lockwood slide show may change a little in the next few weeks, and the flyers will be ready soon, so interested people are welcome to call me at (541) 746-7548 for more information. I can also be reached via electronic mail at mwidmer@or.blm.gov.
