This ìtitrationî curve shows that there is a flat region where the greatest resistance to change in pH upon the addition of acid or base occurs. This is the pKa ( where [A-] & [KA] are equal) so the choice of a buffer is based upon its pKa.
Some buffers have more than one ionizable group and thus. more than one pKa
