About places and faces

Most of the people profiled here work behind the scenes. They include the leader of the crews that prepare UO arenas before games, a volunteer who works at the Cascades Raptor Center, a student who works Ems games at Civic Stadium and the man who'll keep the Olympic Trials on track.

The places, for the most part, are well-known. They include Hayward Field at the UO, Spencer Butte and the string of parks along the city portion of the Willamette. Others, such as the Clock Museum, are known to fewer, and one, Bus Route 91 to McKenzie Bridge, is known only to the handful of riders who use it.

The site is the culminating project of J465/565, Cyberjournalism, a class taught at the University of Oregon School of Journalism and Communication in Winter 2008.

Members of the class were:

Dan Albrecht, Josh Bolkan, Thom Brekke, Joachin Chapa, Nick Cummings, Trevor Davis, Man-Ying Fong, Eric Florip, Peggy Green, Nat Levy, Victoria Nguyen, Mike O'Brien, Sydney Smeed, Teresa Stanokik, Heather Wuest and Misty Zakrewski.

Nick Cummings and Thom Brekke designed the site.
