About This Print
Ay-O derived I Love You B from his own silkscreen work of 1974 titled I Love You (Love Letters) (see IHL Cat. #1472), and Marcel Duchamp's Étant donnés (1946-1966), an assemblage containing a headless woman mannequin.

"I love you B combines the Mexican fellow's garments [see "The Original Lithograph" on the page I Love You (Love Letters)], a nude and a gas lamp said to be made of pig hide held in the hands of a headless woman's torso suggested by Duchamp's last work [Etant donnés] owned by the Philadelphia Art Museum, repeated in a pattern along with parallel lines. A part of this work I titled Portrait of Yoshiaki Tono [art critic]."
