One of fourteen prints by the artist that appeared in the magazine Shin Nigao whose purpose was to advertise the Kabuki theater and renew interest in actor prints. This print featuring the actor Kitaoka Nizaemon (XI) in the role of Yōjirō, in a play which ran in April 1915 at the Kabuki-za, was published in the first issue of the magazine in June 1915.
