Biography

Nakamura Shūkō 秋香 (active c. 1894-1904)
No information is available on this artist who created senso-e (war prints) for both the Sino-Japanese War (1894-95) and the Russo-Japanese War (1904-1905). He has also been named as Nakamura Akika by Nicholas Chakin.¹ The artist is likely not Tomita Shūkō the painter and illustrator active in the same period although Merritt writes that Tomita Shuko "drew many prints for the Sino-Japanese War."²
