About This Print
Along with Blue Peep Show A (IHL Cat. #237) this print, Seabathing, makes use of the curvilinear forms that appear in most of the artist's work during 1970 and largely disappear in future work.
Note the different handling of the embossed circles between this collection's print, below left, and that shown in the Catalog Raisonné, below right. Color differences are likely related to color shifts introduced during the photographic reproduction process. It is not unusual for Takahashi to make small changes between prints in an edition.

Color woodblock print with embossing on paperLent by Irwin Lavenberg, L2017.103.23Vivid, primary colors and curvilinear forms are unusual in Takahashi’s work. This composition captures the joy of ocean swimming and, perhaps, the danger of its currents.
