About This Print

This print appeared in the October 1924 issue of The Ladie's Graphic, a magazine targeted to women covering "international news, matters relating to the lifestyle of the 'contemporary' woman as well as information about cuisine and current styles in clothing, hair and make-up." Yumeji contributed illustrations to the magazine starting with its first issue in May 1924. Yumeji's designs were printed separately by woodblock and tipped into the page, as can be seen below. This collection's print, as does the print tipped into the actual magazine (show below), does not carry an artist's seal. The print in the collection of the Amsterdam museum Nihon no hanga, however, carries the artist's "tomoe" seal. (Also see below.)
