About This Print

This print is one twelve small format prints created by Toyonari for the short-lived 1915 magazine Shin Nigao whose purpose was to advertise the Kabuki theater and renew interest in actor prints. Depicting Onoe Kikugorō VI in the role of Jūjirō in the play 太十 Taijū* staged at the Ichimura-za in June 1915. This print appeared in the 3rd issue of the magazine, published in August 1915.
