incompletes "Incomplete" is a university grading option ("I") assigned to a student when, as the name implies, a small percentage of the required work for the course is not completed due to reasons acceptable to the Language Program Director. In general, acceptable excuses are limited to university-sponsored events (sports competitions, conference presentations, etc.).

This grading option is not avaible for students who have missed only daily quizzes and/or homeworks. In general, the missing work is a major course assignment, such as the final exam or final oral exam. If a student has missed many quizzes or chapter tests without a legitimate reason, the student should either drop the course or receive a low to failing grade based on the work actually completed.

The grade "I" for an incomplete may be assigned only after the teacher and student have made arrangements for the unfinished work to be completed. These arrangements are always made in writing, signed by both teacher and student. The necessary form is available in the main office of Romance Lanugages, 102 Friendly Hall.

Students have one calendar year to make up an incomplete.
