Data and Analysis_3.2
Abstract

· Why do users often feel too cool for comfort? How do the windows, mechanical system, and ceiling height influence comfort?

- We then contacted Doug Gorder, the Facilities person responsible for the HVAC system of Lawrence Hall, to get more information on the system, and its operation. (View the Field Report of our site visit with Doug) Finally, we blew plastic bubbles at Supply Grille 1 to see how the air was actually being distributed into the space. Our only determination in this experiment was that the air supply was extremely turbulent; causing the perpetual draft that causes people to feel cold. We also observed that bubble activity in the higher ceiling heights was lethargic, suggesting limited circulation.
