payroll: SEIU Vacation Cash-Out
The following memo was emailed this morning to all SEIU-represented
employees.
_________________________________________________________________________
November 15, 2010
MEMORANDUM
TO: SEIU Classified Employees
FROM: Randall D. Wardlow, Employee & Labor Relations Manager
SUBJECT: VACATION CASH-OUT UNDER SEIU CONTRACT
I write to remind you of the change in the SEIU contract with respect to
the opportunity to "cash out" vacation in January 2011. As an
SEIU-represented employee, you have the opportunity to "cash out" up to 40
hours of vacation to be paid in January, provided you have a minimum of 80
hours of accrued vacation leave remaining after the cash-out. (SEIU-OUS
Collective Bargaining Agreement, Article 47, Section 17)
The option to "cash out" vacation is not new to the contract; however the
requirement that the request for the payment must be made no later than
December 31 for the January 2011 payment was new to the FY 2009-2011
contract. The request to .cash out. vacation cannot be changed or revoked
after December 31. The language and procedural change was made to protect
SEIU employees from unintended tax consequences.
The form to request a "cash-out" is available on the Human Resources
website at: http://hr.uoregon.edu/policy/cash%20out%20form.pdf
Please contact your payroll or human resources representative or me,
rwardlow@uoregon.edu, (6-2965), if you have questions.
