While Winnie focuses on teaching and performing classical music, she continues to study music and dance from other cultures. Winnie improvises meditative, modal music, arranges some folk tunes and other music for international folk dance, and performs music of contemporary composers.

Kerner improvised the music for Guy Herzog's video, A River Spirit.
In Memory of Dot Leland was created for her memorial service in 2009. This version was recorded by Guy Herzog in the Winifred Kerner Piano Studio.
Kerner has performed Rebecca Oswald's clarinet and piano suite Field Report: News from Rural Oregon.
