CPLA attended IBEC Etiquette Dinner

The International Business and Economics Club:

IBEC is a group of students that are interested in exploring topics of international business and economics with ties to social responsibility.

The IBEC Etiquette Dinner:

An annual dinner held and hosted by the IBEC club, is open to the entire student body and aims to be an outreach program.

Many CPLA members attended this event in support of IBEC whom the CPLA organization has many close relations with. CPLA’s esteemed Vice-Presidents: Charlie Campbell who also serves in the IBEC club and Cindy Cao have two short notes to make about the event.

Cindy Cao on the event:
IBEC E-Dinner was a fun experience to me. Being able to meet professionals who are engaging in diverse businesses was a great opportunity for CPLA and myself as well. Regardless of the networking outcomes from the dinner, at least CPLA members put themselves out there and got a chance to experience the American Networking style, which was a good start of promoting CPLA in the future.

Charlie Campbell on the event:
The International Business and Economic Club’s Etiquette dinner was not only a great event, but also a great learning experience. Professionals from different backgrounds were assigned to every table and provided many valuable insights. Topics ranged from how to manage a non-profit (something that applied directly to CPLA) to business successes and failures. I personally had the privilege of sitting next to Dr. Richard Lariviere – President of the University of Oregon – and Josh Chamberlain – founder and owner of JTea International. We had great conversation on language acquisition, the importance of culture in International business, and I also gave them information about CPLA. Each seemed to be interested in the cause and I hope to make further contact with them. Overall, it was a great opportunity to practice networking while making some valuable contacts. I hope others, specifically CPLA members, will be able to attend more events similar to these.
