The plan of the building provides for many different personal spaces that allow a person to experience the building in many different ways.  You can study overlooking the river, sitting outside on the balcony or steps, looking towards Silver Street, sitting at a large table, isolated under the lantern, relaxing on a sofa, or working in a computer room.
One is also able to dictate certain aspects of these spaces.  For example,  in the above picture, you can see that at these study tables students are able to open and close the shuters to their own preference.
