Alexa Jefferis was born in the country near Mapleton, Oregon.  Her parents were woodworkers and craftsmen, invested in living sustainably on the land.  In her 6-acre back yard Alexa began, at a very early age, to cultivate a love for nature.  Alexa now spends most of her free time exploring the outdoors of the Pacific Northwest on foot, raft, board, or bike.  Currently a senior, Alexa has explored a broad range of subjects over the coarse of her academic career.  She began her studies in fine arts at the University of Oregon, but has since declared Environmental Science as her major area of study.  With her education, she hopes to protect what she loves, and inspire enthusiasm in others for the natural world by being involved in conservation and environmental education efforts around the world.

Megan Copley is in her senior year at the University of Oregon majoring in Marine Biology and Environmental Science. She is a lover of the arts and outdoors, spending her free time taking photographs, snorkeling, immersing herself in the tide pools, hiking, quilting, partaking in camping adventures, or making stained glass. When not in class or exploring, she works at the Oregon Institute of Marine Biology Loyd & Dorothy Rippey Library. Inspired by social justice, variety, and her everyday interactions, Megan one day hopes to advocate conservation in an international setting while reaching out to youth through the creation of environmentally based children's stories. She is delighted and empowered to be a part of the Marine Team, for it is a direct contribution to providing a meaningful experience of the ocean and natural wonders.

Nathan Liebenstein a senior environmental science major from Oregon has spent much of his life outside enjoying the natural wonders of the Pacific Northwest. Equally powerful passions for preserving and enjoying the natural world, and interacting with people have lead Nathan to pursue experiences that allow him to learn, teach, work, and recreate in the outdoors. This Environmental Leadership Project has been an amazing opportunity to transition into the types of environmental education Nathan hopes to pursue after graduating.

Evan Smith a senior in the Environmental Science department at the University of Oregon was born in the landlocked state of Wyoming. Growing up close to the Tetons he quickly found a love for the mountains. After family travels to coastal regions a new curiosity of the ocean was found. While part of his heart still remains in the mountains, Oregon is a wonderful area to enjoy both the coastal and mountain lifestyles. Through involvement in the Outdoor Pursuits Program at the U of O by both partaking and assisting with courses he has strengthened his skills as an outdoor educator. Through attending the Oregon Institute of Marine Biology his interest and knowledge of marine ecosystems continues to grow alongside his excitement for the natural world.
