Calibration
The purpose of this test is simply to correlate a temperature differential ratio to an R value. We chose Owens-Corning fiberglass bat insulation (R 13) to conduct this calibration test. Because we had known the exact dimensions of the strips of insulation, we were able to build the box to accommodate three “strips” of pink batting and taped the adjoining seams. Once tested, we would then be able to compare the two insulations in term’s of relative R values.
