About This Print

One of seven prints by the artist that appeared in the magazine Shin Nigao, whose purpose was to advertise the Kabuki theater and renew interest in actor prints. The actor portrayed is Ichikawa Sumizō VI (1886-1971) 市川壽美蔵 in the role of Hōkaibō 法界坊, in the play of the same name performed at the Meiji-za in July 1915. This print appeared in the 3rd issue of the magazine published in August 1915.
